The museum is now offering a special program on the history of women’s hats. Participants will get to view the museum’s extensive hat collection and learn how to identify hats from the 1920s to the 1960s. Schedule your group today and make sure to wear your favorite hat to the program! Cost is $2/person.

Ladies, dust off your best hat and wear it out with pride to a program on Saturday, February 4 at the Elkhart County Historical Museum. Entitled “Hats Off to History” the program will show off the museum’s extensive hat collection, give an enlightening history of millinery (hat making), and even give you a chance to make your own hat to take home. For our latest project in the museum’s Historic Craft Workshop series we made rag rugs. Around 40 people gathered for a fun evening of braiding and sewing. See below for the beautiful results!
Learn how to make a rag rug at a historic craft workshop at the Elkhart County Historical Museum. The workshop will take place on Thursday, July 14 from 7:00–9:00 p.m. Participants will learn the basics of making rag rugs and will get to make their own rug to take home.
